Oscar Gonzalez, Venezuela
Caracas Quiere Cafe - Venezuela
Tell us about yourself:
I have a coffee concession in a restaurant in Caracas. It's a personal entrepreneurship.
I have been competing since 2018 in the event "Caracas Quiere Cafe - Venezuela." I always dreamed of competing and one day having the opportunity to represent Venezuela in a World Coffee Championship.
As a professional barista, I'm a person who always wears different hair colors. Preferably purple or blue, that's my personal brand.
I went to work in a coffee shop to pay for my studies, and soon I was forced to see a barista course. Since then, I fell in love with this passion and I don't want to do anything else.
What are you excited to do while you visit Busan?
Get to know another culture and be able to share with the best in the industry. It is exciting to be in a country that is so advanced in different aspects that are so important today.
What are your interests outside of coffee?
I don't think in the last few years I've dedicated myself to something other than this wonderful industry. It's already a profession, more than a hobby. It's definitely a lifestyle.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize or who helped you to prepare for the WBC?
Without a doubt, I must thank Sasa Sestic, Tetsu Kasuya, Hugh Kelly, Joo Yeon, and of course Caracas Quiere Café.
