Father Coffee
Tell us about yourself:
I work at Father Coffee in Johannesburg, South Africa. This year is my first time competing in a regionals, nationals, and now worlds. I'm very competitive and love making coffee but always wanted to compete to meet others in the industry. Competition is out of my comfort zone in many ways so it provides a few daunting but also exciting challenges.
I'm the Head Roaster at Father Coffee and work for our green coffee company AndSons Importers. Whenever we host events at our roastery, I love getting behind bar to pour some wine or shake some cocktails.
I got into the industry just to have a job while studying, loved it so much I stopped studying and put everything into coffee. No regrets!
What are you excited to do while you visit Busan?
I can't wait to visit the local cafes in Busan and explore the city when there's time. Would love to explore the food culture and get some great Korean Fried Chicken.
What are your interests outside of coffee?
I love wine, cocktails and pretty much every sport.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize or who helped you to prepare for the WBC?
The entire Father Coffee team. From my Coaches Chad & Winston, my teammate Munashe, everyone in Joburg: Cait, Twila, Annabel, Fabiana, Jody, the roastery, and many more.
I would also like to thanks SCASA and all the sponsors who made it possible.
